(KYMA, KECY/CBS) The COVID-19 pandemic brought along more people wearing facemasks but also created a lot more medical waste. However, one company believes they can turn old facemasks into electronics.

Facemasks have become waste and created problems such as clogging oceans and being scattered on the streets when not trashed properly.

Engineer and CEO Arthur Huang might have a solution, "This can be a mask today. It can be completely something else tomorrow," he said.

Miniwiz of Taiwan is planning on recycling masks and turning them into wireless phone chargers.

A certain device shreds old masks and turns them into dough.

"This plastic waste, especially the masks, it's actually almost 100% made from plastic. It's polypropylene (PP) based," explained Huang.
