Polli Boat

Name: Polli Boat

Location: Taipei, Taiwan

Date: 2011

Polli-Boat is the world’s first trimaran inspired by the 3R practices so important to the MINIWIZ team - Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Designed and engineered by MINIWIZ, Polli-Boat is made of recycled materials including the revolutionary Polli-Bricks™ and WPC (wood-plastic composite) material.

The boat uses waste canvas as decking and its renewable energy systems is powered by both solar and wind, which can be interchangeable depending on weather conditions.

760 Polli-Bricks™ is used as the major floating device in the main hull and outer tubes due to Polli-Bricks™'s large air pockets. WPC is used as the top decking material to replace traditional FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic), an unrecyclable and toxic-to-manufacture material.

On March 31, 2011, the Polli-Boat debuted in the EcoARK, the world's first architecture made from recycled plastic bottles, to complement the World Month event host by the National Geographic Channel. The Polli-Boat sailed its first journey on World Ocean Day, June 8th, 2011. Its purpose was to raise the awareness of sustainable oceanic pollution.
